Business Crime

Swindon Crime Reduction Initiative Partnership (SCRIP) aims to make Swindon a safer town for all who shop, work and live in the town. We therefore respond to all types of retail crime including violence against staff, customer theft, employee theft and fraud.

Successful Partnerships

We believe that businesses should work together with enforcement agencies if they are to impact upon the level of business crime. SCRIP therefore, works in partnership with ATCM, AABC, BRCP to help reduce business crime in Swindon and the surrounding areas.

What SCRIP Offers

At SCRIP we offer advice and support for the reduction of business crime and implement a number of different measures designed to prevent and detect crime.

We gather, collate, exchange, process and manage all information received from members relating to crime within Swindon and the surrounding area. This information is sent out as electronic newsletters and presented during intelligence meetings; the information is also included within the SCRIP members website, which keeps you and your staff well informed.

SCRIP Radio Network

The Radio Network is managed by a fully automated computer system that monitors and records all calls. The scheme links businesses, security officers, council departments, the Police, the inSwindon Street Team and, members of pubwatch to raise awareness of all criminal activity across the town.

The Brunel, SBC and Parade Management Control Rooms also have radios to enable CCTV operators to communicate directly with security operatives using the network. This allows for an early and accurate assessment of situations to be made so those involved can respond accordingly.

The radio network makes businesses more secure as it can protect staff working in isolation. Radio operatives can request assistance in the event of incidents such as violence, theft, robbery, disorder, and missing persons. Essentially, businesses and their staff become part of a team ensuring Swindon is a safer place.

All of the users pay an annual SCRIP membership fee at a very reasonable cost and sign up to the Data Protection Protocols in order to comply with the law.
